Step 1: Turn off the internet #
Turn off your internet connection completely (Wi-Fi and/or network cable), this is important so that we can perform an upgrade and not activate the upgrade key. Activation will take place at a later stage after we have performed the upgrade.
Step 2: Open the activation settings #
For Windows 11: Click Start and go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
For Windows 10: Click Start and go to Settings > System > Activation.
Alternatively, click the button below to go directly to the activation settings.
Step 3: Use the universal upgrade key #
Click “Change Product Key” and start the upgrade by entering this product key:
VD4D4-NDBGX-MTQ2D-G2D9B-F9CKG
This is a universal key provided by Microsoft to perform an upgrade.
Step 4: Complete the upgrade #
Follow the normal upgrade process using the universal key. This step temporarily licenses your system for Windows Pro, allowing the upgrade to proceed.
Step 5: Complete the activation #
Once the upgrade is complete, you will need to switch back to your original product key. This completes the process and ensures that your system is properly licensed under your original terms. Click “Change Product Key” again under Activation Settings and enter the product key you received with your purchase.
